Each shaft is manufactured using quality raw materials sourced from reputed steel mills. We offer complete end-to-end manufacturing from material selection and cutting to final machining, keyway cutting, and surface finishing.
Types of Shafts We Manufacture:
- Motor Shafts: Precision motor shafts for AC motors, DC motors, induction motors, servo motors, and brake motors from fractional HP to 500 HP.
- Gearbox Shafts: Input shafts, output shafts, intermediate shafts, and lay shafts for industrial gearboxes, speed reducers, and geared motors.
- Stepped Shafts: Multi-diameter stepped shafts with precise shoulder locations and concentricity for gear mounting, bearing fits, and seal surfaces.
- Keyed Shafts: Shafts with parallel keys, Woodruff keys, gib-head keys, and custom keyways cut to exact specifications with proper fit tolerances.
- Splined Shafts: Involute splines and straight-sided splines for heavy-duty power transmission applications.
- Hollow Shafts: Bored shafts and hollow shafts for weight reduction, through-shaft applications, and cooling passages.
- Threaded Shafts: Shafts with threaded ends for nut retention, bearing locking, and coupling attachments.
- Tapered Shafts: Shafts with tapered sections for press fits, tool mounting, and quick-release mechanisms.
- Long Shafts: Extended length shafts up to 12 feet for conveyor systems, line shafts, and material handling equipment.
- Custom Designed Shafts: Fully custom shafts manufactured as per customer drawings, samples, or dimensional specifications.
Manufacturing Process:
- Material Selection: We select appropriate grade of steel based on application requirements including strength, hardness, wear resistance, and fatigue life.
- Cutting to Length: Raw material is cut to approximate length using precision cutting equipment.
- Center Drilling: Both ends of the shaft are center drilled for mounting between lathe centers.
- Rough Turning: Initial turning operation to remove excess material and achieve approximate dimensions.
- Finish Turning: Precision finish turning to achieve final diameters with tight tolerances (typically ±0.02 mm).
- Step Machining: Machining of multiple diameters with precise shoulder locations.
- Keyway Cutting: Keyways are cut using broaching, milling, or slotting operations as required.
- Threading: Threads are cut on shaft ends if specified in the drawing.
- Grinding (if required): Surface grinding or cylindrical grinding for bearing seats, seal surfaces, and high-precision sections.
- Quality Inspection: Dimensional inspection using micrometers, Vernier calipers, and gauges.
Materials Used:
Mild steel (MS), carbon steel (C40, C45, C50, EN8, EN9), alloy steel (EN24, EN36, EN19, 4140, 4340), stainless steel (304, 316, 410, 17-4 PH), and special grades as per customer requirements.
